Sutter Health is likely to open a walk-in clinic with same-day service in the new shopping center at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Madison Avenue later this season, a company executive confirmed on Thursday. Most major insurance plans will be accepted at the clinic, and a $129 flat fee for those without insurance will also be an option.
Ted Matson, Sutter Health’s vice president of strategy, told The Sentinel the brand new clinic seeks to bring “quick, convenient healthcare” to the area, with nurse practitioners or physicians’ assistants on-site to provide health screenings and wellness services, along with treatment for everyday illnesses. Sutter currently has three other walk-in clinics in the region, all of which do not require appointments and are open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to eight p.m.
Sutter spokeswoman Liz Madison said the clinic will have a similar “look and feel” of the walk-in clinic that opened in Elk Grove last year, with an expansive lobby area, modern interior, and complimentary fruit, coffee and tea, and fruit-infused water on tap.
While not offering as comprehensive services as an urgent care center or an emergency room, Sutter’s Walk-in Care clinics can treat conditions like sprains or a mild fever or skin rash, according to a description on Sutter Health’s website. Those with a broken bone or severe cut would be advised to seek treatment at an urgent care center or hospital ER, Matson said.

The future clinic at 5406 Sunrise Blvd. features an 1,865-square-feet layout in a building that shares tenancy with Moe’s Southwest Grill, a brand new restaurant that opened last October. Matson said Citrus Heights was selected being an “optimal location” based on factors including growth potential along with a need for healthcare services.
The Sacramento Business Journal reported last week that Sutter had signed a 5-year lease for the new clinic. Matson said the clinic is scheduled to spread out later this fall.
With the addition of Sutter, the new Capital Nursery Shopping Plaza now has only two vacant spaces remaining, based on leasing agent Andrea Stirling. She said service-oriented tenants are now being sought to fill the remaining 1,300 and 1,450-square-feet vacant spaces, because the shopping center is maxed out on food uses.
