Taplanes, the Harrogate-headquartered shower cubicle manufacturer, has been acquired by investment firm THG inside of a deal managed by BCMS.

Taplanes designs and manufactures numerous prefabricated low maintenance shower cubicles and toilet pods, which can be increasingly in demand across universities, housing associations, hotels, and defence facilities.

TMG said it was initially attracted by Taplane’s “patented range of products effective order pipe”.

Director Jon Frewin said: “Andy and John have built Taplanes in a great business with excellent growth prospects, and we think we can help accelerate that growth using our skills and contacts.

“In accessory organic growth, we’ll be seeking further add-on acquisitions that can help Taplanes build market share and grow its export channel.”

Taplanes director John Wilkinson added: “Taplanes did well, speculate both of us reach retirement age, we wished to get a new partner to consider business to a higher level.

“There are lots of new possibilities to develop, and we’re both delighted to be leaving Taplanes in capable hands.”
