East Midlands leads UK exports growth

The East Midlands may be the fastest growing region for exports in the united kingdom which includes a 13 per cent increase on in 2009 in accordance with official Government figures.

The latest data demonstrates that seven regions in England reported a rise in exports from the year ending June 2018, as well as the East Midlands made up the most significant rise.

The news continues to be jointly welcomed by three East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnerships – The Greater Lincolnshire LEP, The LEP for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (D2N2) additionally, the Leicester and Leicestershire LEP.

Ursula Lidbetter MBE, Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, commented: “The East Midlands is constantly on the outperform expectations in relation to economic output. These new figures are testament to most of the hard-working businesses based here.

“The East Midlands is a fantastic area to do the job, and as these numbers show, designed for exporters.

“As the LEP, we’ll always help our private and non-private partners to guarantee next year’s numbers are even higher.”

The figures happen to be welcomed by Chief Executive of Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Department for International Trade Export Champion and LLEP Board Member Dr Nik Kotecha OBE.

Dr Kotecha said: “The East Midlands is the manufacturing spine of your UK plus a major contributor to the united kingdom economy.

“Despite the uncertainty brought on by Brexit, East Midlands organizations are robust and aware of change, that is proven from the latest export results. As a whole, the Midlands Engine is an economic powerhouse which might only strengthen when the East and West Midlands continue to keep always work with together.

“Up to date exporting data is nice thing with the region, however for this to keep at it we should develop this achievement by encouraging and supporting more businesses to explore successful trade opportunities world wide.”
