British Steel has expanded its plan to the Yorkshire and Humber region’s construction industry by moving its metal centre from an off-site facility to its main site on Scunthorpe’s Brigg Road.
The move has 10 jobs and additional strengthens British Steel’s nationwide network of metal and repair centres.
Richard Farnsworth, British Steel’s MD Construction, said: “Our metal centre is usually an exciting development, besides for many people but for the region’s construction industry.
“Moving to bigger facilities allows us offer customers a good choice of steel products including our UK manufactured structural sections with next day delivery as standard. We’ll even have further processing facilities including cutting to length so we can tailor our products to customers’ precise requirements.
“This diverse array of top rated products means our centre is now able to serve developers of all sizes, whether they’re generating a city centre office block or maybe extension to your house. And our excellent location means we could deliver, or they can collect, our steel at incredibly short notice C an integral service while in the construction industry.
“We desire to get to be the supplier of choice to that region’s construction industry and believe our new Scunthorpe Metal Centre, maintained by our facility in Hull, will help us lead business and community re-development all over the Yorkshire and Humber area.”

As along with cutting to length, the Scunthorpe Metal Centre has shot-blasting and painting services.
